Service Modularity

Thank you very much for taking the time to participate in this survey on service modularization. This survey is carried out jointly by the Chair for Industrial Sales and Service Engineering of the Ruhr-Universität Bochum and Value Creation for Cyber-Physical Systems and Services research group at the University of Jyväskylä, Finland.

Modularity describes a design principle, where a complex product or service consists of multiple sub-elements (modules), which can be added, improved, or exchanged independently without altering the overall system. In general, modularization allows companies to offer more product/service variety, improved flexibility, simplified complex systems, enhanced quality, and cost savings.

The survey consists of 27 questions, divided into five thematic blocks. Experience has shown that the questionnaire takes 15 to 20 minutes to complete.
